Make Art and Make the World a Little Brighter

One of my favorite quotes is by English author, Neil Gaiman. "The world seems brighter when you've just made something that wasn't there before."

This is so true, especially this past year or two, when life seems to have been been interrupted for everyone. Many have struggled with mental health issues caused by the stresses of working from home and feeling isolated. But some people have coped by using this time to rediscover their creative side.

There's no need to feel intimidated about doing art, because it's not about the quality of the results but rather the process of creating that provides so many benefits. Creating art can be beneficial throughout all stages of life - it can help children be better students and improve quality of life for seniors.

During the pandemic many of us have felt isolated, scared and frustrated. Mental health issues have become one of the serious consequences of lock-downs during this crisis. For those who have used the opportunity to rediscover their creative side, it has helped relieve stress, boost self-esteem and confidence, stimulated our minds and given us a sense of accomplishment. Art can make you an all-around better, happier person.

Pandemic or not, art is something we should always practice. From gardening to cooking, painting, singing, dancing, knitting, sewing or sculpting - these activities are important to our overall well being. So make some time to create. You will be amazed at what you can do and you too will be helping to make the world a little brighter.
